One of Haven's writers, Brian Millikin, gives the inside scoop on the making of episode.
Lucas Bryant directed this episode. This story—Audrey is separated from Nathan in the Sandman’s dream world— had been planned for this episode from the start of the season knowing that Lucas wouldn’t have to be in it very much. As a result, Nathan is on screen less in this episode than any other episode of Haven.
Darkside Seeker Seth Byrne returns in this episode. We first met him in Season 4’s episode “Shot in the Dark”, and he came back again in the beginning of Season 5 in an episode called “Exposure” to help save “ghost Nathan.” As Duke reminds Seth, it was in that episode that he left behind his aether-tracking device, which unbeknownst to Duke was used by Nathan and Charlotte inside Haven just two episodes ago.
This was the last episode of Haven filmed in Chester, Nova Scotia—where Haven has been filmed for its entire series. But due to the longer production schedule of Season 5, the production had to relocate an hour northward to the city of Halifax for the last nine episodes.
