Season 2 started with Bo and the Fae world picking up the pieces after the Bo's crazy mother tried to ignite full blown war between Light and Dark Fae. New dangers, new foes and new drama - read on for what Season 2 had in store.
After Bo's mom blew up the old Ash, a new one had to be chosen to keep the peace. The ritual itself involved a bunch of Faes hunting a "stag" (really a female Fae. Don't worry, Bo made sure she didn't die). Regardless, Lachlan, a mysterious man who was immune to Bo’s wiles, was crowned the new Ash. It was clear he had an agenda all his own.
Dyson popped back up in town. Bo learned his sacrifice to save her last season - he had to give up his feelings for her. Talk about star-crossed. The good news for us was Dyson still took his shirt off a lot.
Except this was a TV show, and mentioning Ciara's name meant she had to show up. Thus went bye-bye any hopes of Dyson reuniting with Bo. Ciara and Dyson picked up where they left off, except they didn't dress like they were in a Renaissance Fair, as seen here.
To escape from a deadly Fae, Bo unexpectedly unleashed a dark power - she sucked the life force and fed from everyone in a room. The power temporarily made her super strong, get a creepy Linda Blair voice and act tyrannical. She got her sanity back, but realized what she was truly capable of. Clock that information for later.
We learned a little more about Lauren - namely, that she had a comatose girlfriend named Nadia. Lauren originally entered the previous Ash's employee because he promised her a cure in exchange for his services. The new Ash wasn't willing to keep the same deal, so Lauren sought refuge with Bo. They mended their friendship.
In order to earn Bo’s trust and good-will, Lachlan sent her on an errand to remove the curse on Nadia. The catch: In order for it to work she could never tell Lauren what she had done. Bo, being a decent person, agreed and Lauren ended up thinking the Ash was the hero. Elated that Nadia was healed, Lauren recommitted herself to the Ash in earnest.
Trick had a really freaky prophecy that the Garuda (seen here), an ancient and evil pre-Fae that feeds on war and strife, was coming to reinvigorate conflict between the Fae clans and generally cause hell on Earth. Uh-oh.
Bo confronted the Ash with this news, and Lachlan revealed himself to be a Naga, a rare and dying breed of Fae in possession of a venom that is the only known substance to be fatal to a Garuda. Still, he alone could not defeat the Garuda - he'd need Bo's help.
On a mission to recruit the help of a Djinn against the Garuda, Bo fell into bed with Ryan, a trickster Fae (called a Loki). Ryan was Dark Fae, which led to some hot dalliances, but ultimately they ended their fling. One important thing we learned here was that when Bo's blood mixed with another's, said person became her total thrall.
Dyson, meanwhile, realized he didn't love Ciara anymore. Dyson knew that the hole in his heart was where his feelings for Bo were supposed to be - but he was doomed to never have them again, thanks to his last season deal with the Norn. Feeling all emo, he got super aggressive and rode his motorcycle a lot.
Kenzi got a really cute boyfriend (played by Warehouse 13's Aaron Ashmore), but her connection with the danger associated with all things Fae - and unwillingness to leave Bo's side - meant she broke up with him.
Dyson realized that defeating the Garuda was the key to getting his love for Bo back. Dyson prepared to attack him, but the Garuda went on the offensive and Ciara sacrificed herself to save everyone. Bo realized it was up to her to defeat the Garuda.
Touched by Ciara’s sacrifice, a chainsaw-wielding Kenzi paid a visit to the Norn and demanded that the Norn return what she had taken - namely, Dyson's love for Bo. The Norn gave in - but not before splashing Kenzi with a stinging, black liquid.
Trick told Bo that to defeat the Garuda, she'd need to mix her blood with Light and Dark Fae to enslave them, take their strength and kick Garuda butt. However, the danger in this was that Bo's psycho power hungry ways could take over.
Lauren equipped Bo with the last portion of the (now dead) Lachlan’s preserved Naga venom, and Trick gave her the life essence of her grandmother, to bring Bo back to the light if her dark nature took over. With these gifts, the Garuda was defeated. However, Bo got a big taste of the dark side in the process. She was able to quell it ... for now.
