Season 5 of Lost Girl featured lots of chi sucking - per usual - ventures into Valhalla and the introduction of Bo's long lost dad, Hades, and her ***aunt*** Zeus! That's a lot to chew on in one sentence so here's a full recap…
You'll recall that at the end of Season 4, Kenzi sacrificed herself for Bo and her soul was sent to Valhalla. Bo says to Hell with that and goes looking for Kenzi. When Bo gets there she finds Kenzi happy, healthy and ordering room service.
The good (read: conniving) people of Valhalla have convinced Kenzi that Hale is waiting for her at the alter and a Hell wedding is planned. Only it's all a ruse - that's not really Hale! Kenzi has been promised to the Valkyrie's boss who happens to be Bo's father. Bo strikes a deal and offers up her soul instead.
As Bo makes her way through the abyss that is her Dad's house, she encounters a goblin who takes a bite out of her thigh. She also encounters a nymph, in a gorgeous gown, named Persephone who helps Bo "heal" like only a succubus can. After all the healing, Persephone drops three bombs on Bo: 1. Persephone is Bo's step-mother (ew). 2. Bo's father is King of the Underworld A.K.A. Hades. 3. Bo was born in Hell.
Bo's stepmom - who seriously is beautifully adorned despite being locked in hell for X amount of years - helps Bo escape and gives Bo the candle that's been keeping her in the Underworld. She asks Bo to light the candle once she's back home so that Persephone's family will know that she's safe even though she's literally in Hell.
Bo lights the candle for her stepmom and just then a mysterious woman in an elevator, elsewhere in town, finds the lit candle mysteriously appear in her hands. Immediately after, the elevator gets into an accident.
So the woman from the elevator looks dead here, but she's not. She's Fae and Bo's Aunt Zeus (yes, THAT Zeus, brother of Hades) and she'll be waking up to cause a ruckus shortly. Also the look of concern on Dyson and Lauren's faces are because of the disturbing elevator accident but also because Lauren's been receiving death threats ever since she made Evony, The Morrigan, human, in Season 4.
Bo eventually heals by having sex with Dyson while Lauren and Tamsin have an awkward chat as the sex is happening in the room behind them. This storyline leads to a bigger issue in Season 5 with Tamsin being widly jealous of Bo's other lovers. Lauren gets that Bo will never be a one person succubus... While Tamsin on the other hand is really falling for our girl. This won't end well.
With Kenzi gone, Tamsin and Bo are trying to get into a flow as partners when they meet (read: he stumbles into their lives, steals from them and gets Bo stabbed in the process) Mark, a troubled kid who's being hunted by someone called "The Hunter."
Turns our The Hunter is trying to avenge his family who were killed by wolves, so he's been hunting down wolves one by one and killing them. Now, for the curve balls: 1. Mark didn't even know that he was a wolf. 2. Mark didn't even know that DYSON is his father! 3. Dyson didn't know that he had a son and that said son is Mark.
Enter, Cassandra the Oracle. She unknowingly goes on a date with a creepy dude, Horatio, she met online. And since he's working for aunt Zeus, the creeper ends up driving Cassandra to take out her own eyes and then he locks her up in a dungeon with other Oracles. This is all a part of aunt Zeus' plan to build her evil army.
Also a member of aunt Zeus' army? Iris, who's a demon inhibiting the body of a young girl. Remember the people from the elevator? We'll they're all dead but Zeus and her cronies have hitched a ride inside their human bodies because they need to get around in the world undetected. Iris seduces Mark, which isn't difficult, and steals Trick's ledger from the Dal in the process.
Dyson tries to have some bonding time with his misfit son, Mark, by taking Mark out on a case. The symbol in the blood turns out to be a symbol of death and reincarnation. It's used by end-of-days cults. Yep, aunt Zeus and her army.
While trying to fight off her aunt Zeus - who she doesn't know is her aunt Zeus until the Season Finale but for the sake of this recap, it's okay to go out of order - Zeus lays hands on Bo and try as she might, Bo can't seem to heal like she usually does. Tamsin is really concerned about her girlfriend. Yep, she uses "g" word and Bo is not flattered.
Before Bo can let Tamsin down easy, she has to tend to another storm. The one that Cassandra predicted is well on its way to ruin the world as they know it. While Bo and the team try and keep things under control, Zeus (ZeeZee for short) has all of the oracles, including Cassandra, trapped in her apartment.
After the storm knocks all the power out, Lauren and Bo take advantage of the opportunity to have sex. Tamsin catches them in the act. That makes two storms now - one that the evil Fae are orchestrating and the other that's quietly brewing in Tamsin's heart. Burn.
A brief appearance by a monster in the form of Eros causes our team to hallucinate. Trick sees a vision of the three oracles who say "only in the darkness can we see the light". A clue that leads Trick to theorize that the oracles were sent by ZeeZee to get the truth about Bo's heritage. Trick theorizes correctly. And now that ZeeZee realizes that Bo's dad is Hades and that Bo is her niece, she pushes Cassandra off a balcony since she has no use for her anymore. #byecassandra
ZeeZee and her crew throw a surprise party for Bo. Everyone's beautifully dressed and there's evil in the air. At the party, Bo decides that if she has to be girlfriends with anyone, she chooses Lauren. Oh, Tamsin. You're such a cute Valkyrie and you have your whole last life ahead of you - you'll find someone!
It turns out that Bo being on Earth is the thing that's been feeding Hades' power for so long so Bo agrees to ZeeZee's proposal to emancipate herself from her father. But how is she going to do that exactly?
With a knife of course! But before Bo can cut into herself (thank God, because that was seriously a bad idea) the group realizes that Mark and Iris are missing. Misfit Mark is stabbed when Iris, who's inhabiting the body of a girl named CeCe, gets into a scuffle with CeCe's parents.
The answers to how they can fight the evil that threatens to take over the world lies inside the box that Hades sent Bo for her birthday. ZeeZee is NOT okay with Bo opening that box and the two fight it out in while wearing fancy gowns and heels.
Meanwhile, you remember how Mark was holding on for deal life because he was stabbed in a kerfuffle with CeCe/Isis’s parents? Well, he survived but CeCe/Iris did not. Turns out, Iris - daughter of Hera and Zeus - was as powerful as everyone thought. And she also had a tendency of killing everything she touch, so Hades chocked the life out of her—because Hades is that kind of dude.
Lauren turned Fae for a hot minute because she had been injecting herself with the serum she created for the Morrigan, Evony. Lauren’s stint as a Fae didn’t last long because the whole ordeal was killing her. Also, she ended up breaking up with Bo. Again.
Oh and Kenzi returned (!!), after kicking it at the castillo (that’s means castle in Spanish and Kenzi kept telling us) of Hale’s grandfather. After hearing about all the sh*t going down with Hades, Kenzi decided it was time to come back and lend her bff, Bo, a hand.
Reeling from her latest breakup with Lauren, Bo had rebound sex with Tamsin. Except, it actually wasn’t Bo. It was Hades who had taken on Bo’s likeness (he was able to shape shift into the form of anyone he shared blood with) in order to get Tamsin pregnant, thereby creating a brand new heir to carry on his evil legacy.
Speaking of legacy’s, Bo lost a part of hers when Hades killed both her mother, Aife - who turned out to not be so bad after all - and Trick. Sad. Trick’s last words to Bo were “remember that you’re my blood too.” This bit of ominous advice would come in handy later.
Hades did a mind control number on Bo and had her suck the chi out of nearly everyone in town. Once their chis were collected, Hades had the power to manipulate them all. Bo, luckily came to her senses just in time to realize that the only thing that could kill Hades was a force of good/light/love. Using the power of Trick’s blood within her, Bo defeated her dad. Take THAT Hades!
Fast forward a few years and we end the series with Mark and Dyson running The Dal with both light and dark Fae united. Bo and Lauren are back together and Kenzi has been raising Tamsin's daughter Dagny (pictured here, all grown up), who, it turns out has the mark of Hades on her shoulder - a handprint just like the one Bo had on hers. This means two things: 1. Hades is still out there lurking, waiting for his chance to make Dagny join his evil army and 2. Bo and her fearless (and super fun!) crew will be ready to take him down when the time comes.
