If you’re a stateside fan of Harry Potter, you likely have been waiting for the opening of the Broadway production of the sequel play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child ever since the London production was first announced. Now we’re one step closer, as the cast for the New York version of the play has been revealed. Seven lead members of the original London cast are set to reprise their roles, including Jamie Parker as Harry Potter, Noma Dumezweni as Hermione Granger, and Paul Thornley as Ron Weasley. They’ll be joined by four other original cast members: Poppy Miller as Ginny Potter, Alex Price as Draco Malfoy, Sam Clemmett as Albus Potter, and Anthony Boyle as Scorpius Malfoy.
Deadline reports that additional new cast members are as follows: David Abeles, Brian Abraham, Shirine Babb, Jess Barbagallo, Stephen Bradbury, Lauren Nicole Cipoletti, Joshua De Jesus, Jessie Fisher, Richard Gallagher, Susan Heyward, Geraldine Hughes, Edward James Hyland, Byron Jennings, Katie Kreisler, Joey LaBrasca, Andrew Long, Kathryn Meisle, Angela Reed, Dave Register, Adeola Role, James Romney, Malika Samuel, Alanna Saunders, David St. Louis, Stuart Ward, Madeline Weinstein, Alex Weisman, and Benjamin Wheelwright.
The show, which is based on a short story by J.K. Rowling that focuses on Albus Potter, the son of Harry and Ginny, broke records in the UK for awards, and it’s likely it will do the same in the U.S. next year. It will debut at the Lyric Theater, with previews beginning in March. The official opening is scheduled for April 22.
