Fandom can often rise to obsessive levels, and that's on full display in the trailer for Please Stand By. The film follows a young woman with autism, Wendy (Dakota Fanning), who is obsessed with Star Trek. Seriously, hardcore, obsessed. Between shifts at Cinnabon, walking her dog Pete, and watching Star Trek, she is working on a massive fan script set in the Star Trek universe.

When Wendy learns of a Star Trek writing competition, she is determined to travel across the country to deliver her script in person. Things, of course, don't go according to plan, and Wendy winds up encountering more than a few roadblocks along the way — not to mention some Klingon dialogue as well. (Yes, there is Klingon.)

Please Stand By also stars Toni Collette (Krampus, The Sixth Sense), Patton Oswalt (Happy!), and — in a fun twist — Alice Eve, who previously appeared in Star Trek: Into Darkness. Ben Lewin (Georgia, The Sessions) is at the helm as director.

Please Stand By arrives in theaters and on demand on Jan. 26.
