The Writers Guild of America has come up with a list of the 101 best TV series ever. But which sci-fi series made the list?
All right! It's the 101 best, most trailblazing, most influential, most stayed-up-all-night-obsessing-about TV shows of all time, as voted by members of the WGA.
But we're not interested in all 101. What we want to know is -- how did science fiction and fantasy TV fare? And the answer is ... not all that well, sadly. You'd think, given the volume of genre television, that there'd be tons of sci-fi on this list. You would be wrong.
But here's what the WGA deigned worthy, from bottom to top:
90. The Prisoner
79. Star Trek: The Next Generation
49. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
40. Game of Thrones
38. Battlestar Galactica (2005)
35. Twin Peaks
33. Star Trek
26. The X-Files
3. The Twilight Zone
While we're happy with many of the shows that did make the list, there are an awful lot that didn't and, frankly, should have. Where was Farscape? Babylon 5? Firefly? Futurama? Doctor Who?!
But maybe that's just us. What do you think? Are these the shows that deserve to be the best of the best? Or did the WGA miss something?
