13 famous claims of sci-fi plagiarism (and how they all played out)

There have been a lot of mystical sci-fi worlds created in TV, movies and books over the years. But that doesn’t mean a few of those beloved hits didn’t allegedly borrow from some other stories out there.

So what about some of those lawsuits and allegations of plagiarism that have popped up over the years? From Star Trek to Harry Potter, a lot of popular projects have been the target of plagiarism claims. Heck, James Cameron can’t go six months without being sued over Avatar.

With a filmmaker recently taking a shot at Paranormal Activity 4, claiming he created the storyline in a several-year-old script, we’ve pulled together a  baker's dozen of these plagiarism stories and figured out how they ended (or didn’t).
