Director Bong Joon-Ho’s sci-fi epic Snowpiercer may not have a U.S. release date yet, but some intriguing new pics give us our best look yet at the last train ever still barreling along the frozen tundra of future-Earth.
Set in a frozen post-apocalypse, the film follows the last few survivors who have taken refuge in a massive train that keeps moving and keeps them alive.
Over the years, a new social structure have developed between the front and back passengers, and these new pics show off the weathered, layered setting — and it looks exactly like what you’d expect if the last remnants of humanity held up in train cars for a few years.
The level of detail is impressive, and it only gets us more excited for this film to finally score a U.S. release date. It’s set to open in South Korea on August 1, so fingers crossed it’ll get some U.S. distribution soon.
If nothing else, the solid cast list shouldn’t hurt its chances, as the film stars Chris Evans, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, Ed Harris, Ewen Bremner, Octavia Spencer, Kang-ho Song, and Ko Asung.
