Filming is officially underway on Joss Whedon’s Avengers sequel, and we have the first pics and reports from what’s going on. Want to see?

Principal photography ramped up last week in Johannesburg, South Africa, and though the major cast members aren’t expected to start work until April, we have our first info about what Whedon and company are working on.

A local resident reportedly noted an action scene being film “where Hulk was battling someone” and “scaring the people.” The tipster also offered that Hulk could play a major part in the Johannesburg portion of the shoot, since they’ve seen the green-headed FX stand-in quite a bit since work began. The pics don't reveal much, though there definitely seems to be some carnage.

We obviously still have a while to wait until that May 1, 2015, opening date, but there’s something warm and fuzzy about knowing work is really underway on Marvel’s biggest sequel yet.
