Produced by Joss Whedon and directed by Morgan Spurlock, Comic-Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope aims to take you inside the beautiful madness of the event that's shaped pop culture for the last decade (for better or for worse): San Diego Comic-Con.

In trying to examine the phenomenon that draws upwards of 200,000 people a year and has supplanted any film festival in terms of Hollywood muscle, Spurlock is following a series of fans—the collector, the aspiring artist and the cosplay designer—as well as famous faces like Seth Rogen and Kevin Smith to paint what looks to be an upstairs-downstairs portrait of modern nerddom.

It looks as if A Fan's Hope will have a bit of depth to it, along with a decent sense of humor. Heck, as long as it's not a long-form version of every "gawk at the geeks" TV news segment that runs along with SDCC, I'll be a happy guy.

(I only wish they hadn't spelled Spider-Man wrong. Hyphen, boys. Hyphen.)
