1st look at new sci-fi series Sleepy Hollow + Abrams' Almost Human

Well, Fringe might be gone, but Fox seems to be doubling down on new sci-fi shows next season.

The latest? J.J. Abrams’ Almost Human and Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci's Sleepy Hollow, both of which received a full season pickup from the network.

For Fringe fans, Almost Human should definitely be one to watch, as Abrams has teamed up with former Fringe producer J.H. Wyman to make it happen. That series will be a twist on the buddy-cop genre, following a cop (Karl Urban) who is teamed up with a humanlike android. Abrams’ name alone was likely enough to get this one on the schedule, and it’s the latest of many series (Fringe, Alcatraz) he's had on the network.

As for Sleepy Hollow, reboot gurus Orci and Kurtzman (Hawaii Five-0, Amazing Spider-Man 2) will be mixing time travel with the classic headless-horseman tale for a sci-fi-tinged crime procedural. The series will follow Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), who gets yanked 250 years through time to find the world on the brink of destruction. Once here, he’s somehow partnered with a modern-day cop (Nicole Beharie) to try and figure it all out. The biggest question? How they plan to string this premise out for the long term. Best guess: a big mystery and a new mythology.

Which of these two series are you interested in checking out?
