We’ve been wondering how Bryan Singer would imagine James McAvoy’s young '70s-era Professor Xavier, and now we finally know. Guys, Professor X is looking rough.

Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past will be bringing the action into the 1970s (as well as the present day), and Xavier is looking worse for wear in his signature wheelchair. Singer put it best: “Serpico.”

The comic storyline that inspired the film is one of the best, and most dense, tales in X-Men lore. It’ll be interesting to see how Singer puts it all together and reconciles the past and future casts. As for Xavier? We can’t wait to see what has driven him to Serpico-levels of grunginess.

What do you think of McAvoy’s new look?
