Peggy Carter is back! Marvel’s latest short film is set to debut at San Diego Comic-Con next week, and now we have our first look at the period-set Captain America spinoff.
Entertainment Weekly has debuted the first poster and pics from Agent Carter, which focuses on Hayley Atwell’s Agent Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger.
The story picks up a bit after Cap’s disappearance, and follows Peggy’s struggles to show all the men in charge that she can hold her own in the spy-vs.-spy world. The story will focus on the mysterious Zodiac, and Carter’s mission to recover it.
Here’s how Marvel co-president Louis D’Esposito described the project:
“It’s a year since Cap plunged into the ocean. And in our mind, we said there’s a few SSR offices. If you want to relate it to now, it’s like the OSS, the precursor to the CIA. The SSR is the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D. There’s some satellite offices in New York and right now their primary concern is getting Zodiac ... Zodiac in the books has been many many different things. We just want you to know it’s deadly, it’s important, bad guys are guarding it, and it’s imperative she gets it.”
The masses will have to wait until Sept. 24 to see the short when it arrives as part of the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray release, but it will have a theatrical-style debut at San Diego Comic-Con next week.
Do you like what Marvel has been doing with these short films? Will you follow Peggy Carter into her very own story?
