One of the surprise hits of 2013 was the alt-reality horror flick The Purge, and now the first full trailer for the terrifying sequel has arrived.
The first film, which starred Lena Headey and Ethan Hawke as a married couple attacked on the one night each year where all crime is legal, netted $89 million off a measly $3 million budget. It was also fairly entertaining for a low-budget thriller, so cue the sequel.
For what it's worth, The Purge: Anarchy looks to up the ante and focus on the street carnage that takes place during the annual Purge. The sequel stars Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights), Kiele Sanchez (The Glades) and Frank Grillo (Prison Break, Winter Soldier) as folks caught out on the streets when all hell breaks loose.
Check out the trailer below and let us know if you think Anarchy can capture that same freaky lightning in a bottle:
The sequel opens July 18.
