Auntie Beeb has finally released the first trailer for Doctor Who’s upcoming 50th-anniversary special episode, and it’s timey-wimey absolutely mind-blowing!
The 50th-anniversary celebration trailer (you can clearly see how this episode was made for 3D—those shots are simply a-mazing) celebrates all 11 Doctors of the past 50 years, from the First Doctor up to Nine, and passing right over David Tennant’s Ten (you know, the one who’s actually coming back for the whole shindig) before settling on Matt Smith’s Eleventh Time Lord, whose words sent a chill running up and down our spines:
I’ve been running all my lives, through time and space; every second of every minute of every day for over 900 years. I fought for peace in a universe at war. Now the time has come to face the choices I have made in the name of the Doctor. Our future depends on one single moment of one impossible day, the day I’ve been running from all my life. The day of the Doctor.
A couple of the companions are also featured—including the sorely-missed Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jame Smith (and ooh, looky there! K-9!) and there's Clara (Jenna Coleman) and her leaf. Even Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) is hidden somewhere in this exciting trailer (we see her from the back, and she's wearing that pink thingie). That plus a few of those classic Who monsters who are peppered everywhere (Daleks, Cybermen, Oods, just to name a few).
It was definitely worth the wait.
“The Day of the Doctor” will air simultaneously worldwide on Nov. 23. Are you ready? And what did you think of the trailer?
