Fans were thrilled at the news that not only was Warner Bros. Animation splitting its adaptation of Frank Miller's seminal Dark Knight Returns into two movies, but RoboCop's Peter Weller would be voicing the elder Bruce Wayne. Here's what his Batman will sound like—plus a wee snippet of the animation itself.
This sneak-peek featurette is a bit of behind-the-scenes promotion for The Dark Knight Returns twofer—complete with interviews with executive producer Bruce Timm, writer (and Warehouse 13 scribe) Bob Goodman, casting director Andrea Romano (who's been overseeing the Caped Crusader voice casts since Batman: The Animated Series) and actors Ariel Winter and Michael McKean.
Much of this feels a little DVD bonus-y, but the sound of Weller digging into Miller's classic lines—and the glimpses of completed animation toward the end—make it noteworthy.
After attempting a movie based on such revered material as The Dark Knight Returns, where do the DC Comics animated movies go from here? If they pull this off, what's left?
