With work now underway on the highly anticipated film adaptation of Orson Scott Card's acclaimed 1985 novel Ender's Game, the first photo from the set has made its way out into the wild.
Courtesy of the official production blog, we have our first look at Ender—well, Ender's chair, to be precise.
The producers have posted a set shot of what is apparently title actor Asa Butterfield's (Ender Wiggin) on-set chair, which provides resolute confirmation that—yes—this movie is actually happening. Right now.
Sci-fi veteran Harrison Ford is also involved as Col. Hyrum Graff in director Gavin Hood's (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) interpretation of the future-set alien war tale, told through the lens of a school of elite children being prepared to lead armies.
Considering the fact that fellow young adult novel The Hunger Games is expected to do gangbusters this weekend, the market may be ripe for another epic sci-fi tale next spring.
Ender's Game is eyeing a March 15, 2013, release date.
