Ever since filmmaker Barry Sonnenfeld and comic book super-writer Grant Morrison announced their crazy Dinosaurs vs. Aliens project, we've been wondering what the thing might look like. Now the first teaser trailer for the project has given us a glimpse.
Sonnenfeld (Men in Black 3) and Morrison (All-Star Superman and dozens of others) unveiled their collaboration last year, saying that they were partnering on both a graphic novel and a movie. The idea was as high-concept as you could get: What if dinosaurs, more intelligent than we ever imagined them to be, had to defend the Earth from an alien invasion in the distant, forgotten past?
The first fruit of Sonnenfeld and Morrison's labor is a "motion comic program" that is set to unveil on Yahoo! Screen from Liquid Comics, which specializes in digital graphic novels. The motion comic will debut on July 23, but right now there's the teaser trailer as well as a three-part interview with the creators that gives some more background on the whole thing.
Apparently the pair are looking at the project as a trilogy (isn't everything a trilogy these days?) that could span both graphic novels and movies, with Morrison already mapping the whole thing out. There's no word yet on whether they've landed a movie deal, but in a Hollywood where giant robots disguise themselves as trucks and even cowboys fight extraterrestrials, anything is possible.
Check it all out below and let us know: Does this sound like a viable idea for a movie franchise to you?
