The world is an empty, creepy place in the first teaser trailer for Stephenie Meyer's The Host, based on the popular sci-fi novel of the same name.
The first handful of pics from the movie just leaked out, and now the studio is showing off a blue-eyed teaser that sets the scene for the weird sci-fi love story.
A follow-up to Meyer's Twilight saga, The Host hangs up the vampire fangs for a spiritual alien drama about the search for the last humans on Earth.
Most of the teaser consists of a slow, oddly foreboding wraparound shot of a desolate Earth. It only shows off a few seconds of likely footage at the very end—which makes sense, as we're still a long way from the March 29, 2013, opening date.
The best thing about this project? The film is being produced by Andrew Niccol, remembered by most sci-fi fans for his absolutely fantastic 1997 film Gattaca. So, whether you're a Meyer fan or not, that should at least get you a little excited.
