From The Fly to the upcoming Cosmopolis, David Cronenberg has made some pretty cool, edgy sci-fi flicks in his day. Now his son Brandon is trying to give him a run for his money.

The first trailer for Brandon Cronenberg's directorial debut Antiviral has hit the web, and it sets the table for a film that seems like a true Cronenberg classic—albeit with a different Cronenberg at the helm.

The film is set in a world where celebrity overload has hit critical mass and people actually pay money to be infected by the viruses of the rich and famous, just to get a little closer to feeling the fame.

It's definitely a unique premise, and the creepy flick will introduce us to Lucas Clinic employee Syd March, who works for the infection-peddling corporation. It looks ... unsettling, in a good way.

No U.S. release date has been announced at this point, though IFC does have the rights. So it's only a matter of time.
