It's hard to believe it's been half a century since we first laid eyes on the Hulk. Our little (big) man grew up so fast. Five decades and hundreds of comics later, he's still smashing his way through the Marvel Universe, so to commemorate 50 years of the Jade Giant, we've assembled 25 of the greatest comics covers he's ever graced.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first brought Hulk to life in the pages of The Incredible Hulk #1 in May 1962 (and yeah, we know that would mean the issue was actually on the stands a month or two earlier, but 50 years is 50 years). Since then, he's been grey, green and even red. He's smashed alongside the Avengers and the Defenders, clashed with fellow superheroes like the Thing and Wolverine and even been transported to other planets.

That means a lot of comics to choose from, so we made an effort to narrow it down a bit. You'll notice we're only featuring covers from titles starring Hulk here, so you won't see any Avengers or Fantastic Four covers. Still, that left us with plenty of awesome art to choose from. Here you'll find work by comics legends including Kirby, Mike Mignola, Todd McFarlane, Gary Frank and Alex Ross.
