Akira is one of the most important mangas of all time. The Simpsons is a mainstay of American animation. So what happens when you combine them?

When artist James Harvey saw a few stray pages from Ryan Humphrey combining the works of Ōtomo Katsuhiro and Matt Groening, he felt inspired. So inspired, in fact, that he has brought together 300 (and more) artists to retell the entirety of Akira using characters from The Simpsons.

Entitled Bartika, the project seems like more than a simple retelling. By using these iconic American characters, Katsuhiro's original narrative is immediately transformed. And it is absolutely and genuinely amazing. We've included a gallery of a few images just to give you an idea. If you like what you see, check out a ton more here.
