The ferocious Doom franchise has recruited legions of loyal fans since its inception in 1993, and even I profess to have a guilty pleasure attachment to the semi-lame film adaptation starring The Rock. So it's with great fanfare that the developer and creator, iD Software, in association with Bethesda, have released this brutal batch of new 4K screenshots from their upcoming Doom reboot game.
Originally called Doom 4, this long-delayed, testo-jacked title pits a crack team of space marines against the nasty mutant creatures inhabiting the Union Aerospace Corporation's secret research station on the Red Planet. Doom will utilize the digital magic of iD Software's fancy, revved-up Tech 6 Engine and these terrifying screenshots reveal the incredible layering, contrast and detail that the sci-fi shooter will showcase.
Expect Doom to be released by Bethesda sometime around June 30, 2016, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
So grab your trusty BFG 9000 weapon and charge into these captivating screenshots, then tell us if you're gung-ho to grapple with hell's horrifying denizens when Doom is unleashed this summer.
