John Krasinski, A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place, Jack Ryan alum John Krasinski hilariously slugs it out with Colbert to prove he's an 'action guy'

John Krasinski has come a long way from giving the camera in The Office a deadpan stare. The actor’s had a big year, directing and acting in the surprising horror hit A Quiet Place and leading the new Jack Ryan series. But do people still consider him Jim? Definitely. He’s got to break out of the pigeonhole somehow, and a late-night talk show seems like the perfect place to do it.

Especially if his counterpart is Stephen Colbert. The host/comedian roasts Krasinski for being a “comedy guy” like himself, which means that neither is suited for action roles. The ensuing gag — coming after Colbert jokes that he was the runner-up to Wesley Snipes in Blade — rolls into the hallways backstage in a ridiculous combat sequence (that even features a mini-Office reunion).

Okay, okay, we get it John. You’re a big serious actor now. Even if you killed one of comedy’s favorites from a rooftop.

A Quiet Place is already snapping up awards nominations with the People’s Choice Awards, and it doesn’t look like it’ll slow down after that — since it was such a surprise box-office smash, look for the film to land accolades at the Producers Guild Awards later this year. The first season of Jack Ryan is live now on Amazon Prime.
