With the new year upon us, it's time to look ahead to some of the cinematic joys that 2018 will bring -- and one of the most exciting is A Wrinkle in Time. The film is based on the classic book by Madeline L'Engle, and it is being adapted by none other than Ava DuVernay (Selma).

The new film will star Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, and Reese Witherspoon as a trio of time witches, as well as Chris Pine (Star Trek, Wonder Woman) as a father lost in darkness. On the hunt to find her father will be heroine Meg Murry, played by newcomer Storm Reid. The entire enterprise is being produced by Disney, and today they are welcoming you to 2018 with a new TV spot.

The new spot contains a good amount of footage we've already seen, but it does provide a fleeting glimpse of Meg's mother, Dr. Kate Murry, who will be played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Black Mirror, Doctor WhoJupiter Ascending). It also contains some lines by Pine's character that relate to the "divine," so it's likely that at least some of the book's religious themes will be present in this adaptation.

The wonders don't stop there! In addition to the new spot, Disney has released three motion posters that feature Mrs. Which (Winfrey), Mrs. Whatsit (Witherspoon), and Mrs. Who (Kaling). If Meg Murry is going to travel across time and space to free her father from an all-consuming darkness, then we're glad that she will have the help of these three:

While none of the promotional material currently shows any of these three beings transforming into a rainbow-winged horse goddess, we can still hold out hope that this classic scene from the book may end up in the film. Whether it does or not, A Wrinkle in Time encourages you to "be a warrior" when it comes out on March 9, 2018.
