Every once in a while, an actor comes along and just puts it out there: I want to play a superhero!

The last person to do this in a major way was Tyrese Gibson, who posted photos of himself as John Stewart in a bid to land the still-unconfirmed role of Green Lantern. But this week's campaigner for a seat at the superhero table is Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard.

Asked by Cinemablend what current franchise besides one involving dinosaurs she'd like to be involved with, she replied "Marvel movie" without hesitation. When it was suggested that she could possibly vie for the role of Captain Marvel, Howard got even more excited:

"Oh my God, will you write that? Will you write that please? Yes, let’s start a campaign now. That would be rad. Those movies are so fantastic, because talk about just these incredibly drawn characters! That’s the joy of the comics, is that you fall in love with these characters and it’s who they are that carries you from journey to journey to journey -- it’s not just about set pieces. It’s really about who these people are, and so, yes, I just would love to be in a Marvel film."

It's not clear from her response how well Howard knows the character of Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, but she can certainly fit comfortably among the many other names that have been thrown around for the role, including Emily Blunt, Charlize Theron, Katheryn Winnick and Katee Sackhoff.

Of course, Howard would have to dye her hair blond for the role, but she has experience with that -- in fact, it was for her sole previous foray into a Marvel film, when she played Gwen Stacy in 2007's Spider-Man 3. It's safe to say, however, that both she and the character were badly shortchanged by that film, so the title role in Captain Marvel would be a much more proper debut in the official MCU.

Captain Marvel doesn't come out until November 2018 and doesn't have a director yet (although some writers may already be on board), so unless Marvel plans to introduce Danvers in an earlier film, it might be a while before we hear who's got the role. But what do you think of Bryce Dallas Howard for it?
