The major networks are knee-deep in up-front presentations, and Fox has decided to keep one of its former hits on life support for at least one more season.
TV Line reports Sleepy Hollow will survive for a fourth season, after seeing its ratings and critical love pretty much crater over the past two years. As fans are well aware, the writers killed off original cast member Nicole Beharie, who played Abbie Mills, as part of a larger cast shake-up that pretty much leaves Tom Mison’s Ichabod to pick up the pieces in Season 4. Hey, they did say seven years of tribulation, right?
Fox confirms that the cast list for Season 4 will include Mison (duh), along with Lyndie Greenwood (Jenny Mills), Lance Gross (Daniel Reynolds) and Jessica Camacho (Sophie Foster). Losing Beharie will certainly change things up in the fall, though you have to wonder how much the show might suffer by losing the chemistry between her and Mison. For what it’s worth, the producers teased that “reflections” of Abbie could linger into Season 4. Whatever that means.
With the ratings down, and the writers going gutsy by killing off Abbie, it seemed possible (if not somewhat likely) Fox might decide to call it quits. But there’s apparently a bit more life left in this supernatural tale. Here’s hoping Season 4 can start to recapture the magic from the fantastic first season.
Are you still watching Sleepy Hollow? Will you give it a second chance, if not?
* See that pic above? Most of those people are no longer on the show. Just FYI.
