The wait for Cabin in the Woods is over! At least, the wait for the release date. After MGM filed for bankruptcy, Cabin has sat on a shelf with an I'm-Just-a-Bill kind of poignancy ... but not any more.

Cabin in the Woods will be released April 13, 2012 (that's Friday the 13th for those who like their horror traditional), more than two years past its original release date of February 2010. We haven't been this excited since the Cabin in the Woods Twitter feed released these posters.

Cabin in the Woods is about a group of five college-age friends who visit a cabin in the woods, and, um, a few deaths are involved. According to star Amy Acker, it's a bit of a creature feature too.

On the surface, it seems like any other horror movie. However, because it's been produced by Joss Whedon, directed by Drew Goddard and co-written by both of them, we have a sneaking suspicion that Cabin in the Woods should have horror, laughs and dialogue we'll be quoting for years to come.

We know that Chris Hemsworth got his job as Thor because of Joss' recommendation, based on his work in Cabin. We also know that Lionsgate is likely distributing Cabin because of Hemsworth's success with Thor.

Now, that's one seriously virtuous circle.
