With Marvel’s Inhumans now in the rear-view mirror, fans are looking ahead to the fifth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., slated to premiere in less than two weeks. To whet our appetite for the return of the Marvel series, a new action-packed trailer has dropped.

Picking up where we left off at the end of last year’s dramatic season finale, Season 5 will find Coulson (Clark Gregg) and the rest of the team stranded in outer space (like Mac says, it's the one thing they haven't done yet) and facing new cosmic threats such as that super-fast alien creature from last week’s clip, as they try to pull a Snake Plissken and escape the spaceship/prison they are stranded on and return to Earth. We’ll also be introduced to new characters — friends and foes — and from the look of it, it seems that Coulson has quite the cult-following. Check it out:

As you can see, the new season will also see the return of the blue-skinned Kree (the creators of said Inhumans and the main threat of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie via Ronan the Accuser, played by Lee Pace), as well as that of Nick Blood as disavowed S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Lance Hunter at some point in the season.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with a two-hour premiere on Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. on ABC. Are you excited for Season 5?
