The team behind ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been playing the long game in regard to Chloe Bennet’s character, and now Quake herself has opened up about what fans can expect from Season 3.
Bennet, who started the series as the fish-out-of-water character Skye, was revealed last season to actually be established Marvel hero Daisy Johnson, aka Quake. We learned she was an Inhuman last year, and she was doing a decent job of controlling her earthquake powers when we last left her. So, what’s in store for this fall?
The actress opened up to IGN about making the transition from Skye to Daisy, and confirmed she will be going by her comic moniker exclusively in year three. She also let slip that Season 3 will pick up after a time jump, which will find Daisy working closely with Mack (Henry Simmons), in what Bennet described as a “Mulder and Scully” kind of vibe. Color us intrigued.
Here’s an excerpt from what Bennet had to say about her character’s evolution, and how she’ll fit into the grand scheme of putting together the Secret Warriors:
“I think once they see her in the setting, she’s different but she’s as much different as Skye in Season 1 was from Skye in Season 2. She’s just more that way. She’s slowly transitioning. The short hair definitely -- people really liked my long hair. So did I, but we wanted to… She’s kind of no nonsense now and shorter hair makes more sense for that…
I think Coulson is always a mentor for Skye, but they’re definitely more on a co-worker level this year. It’s more of a collaborative effort and he’s really trusted the effort he’s put into raising his protégé. They’re working side by side and you’ll see more of Coulson in the field this year and less of the suited version. Every character has a different dynamic this year so I think fans are going to be a little -- I think we drop you into it out of the time cut and fans might be a little uncomfortable but it’s good to keep them that way.”
The third season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres Sept. 29 on ABC.
