An alien invasion is coming our way as Syfy is developing a brand-new, futuristic thriller, Absolute Zero.

Deadline reports that the new sci-fi drama has been put in development and is the love child of former Burn Notice co-executive producer Michael Horowitz (who is heading into pure sci-fi territory here), Universal Cable Prods, and Doug Liman and David Bartis’ studio-based Hypnotic.

Set in the year 2124, Absolute Zero will follow the inhabitants of a remote mining colony (shades of Aliens, anyone?) who come across a dangerous new species on one of Jupiter’s moon, setting up the stage for an alien invasion that’ll ultimately head to Earth.

Horowitz will be writing the script and will executive produce along with Hypnotic’s Loman, Bartis and Gene Klein.

We don't know about you guys, but we're actually digging the premise of the story. It'll definitely be great to head back to space for some good ol' futuristic science-fiction fun.

How do you guys like the premise for Absolute Zero?
