Unlike their Roland Emmerich counterparts, these aliens take up residence in the White House instead of destroying it, choosing to rule humanity from legitimate places of power. Unemployment is down and crime is nonexistent, so the regime change is pretty great and we should be thankful, right?
Well, the trailer hints at something more sinister just below the surface. Is humanity ready to revolt and take back the Earth?

Set in Chicago, the sci-fi movie takes place 10 years after visitors from outer space have conquered the planet and will explore the lives of the humans and their otherworldy occupiers.
If all goes well, Captive State could be one of the best and most thought-provoking genre films of 2019, complete with relevant parallels to our own political system. In any case, the project is in good hands, as Wyatt expertly rebooted the Planet of the Apes franchise in 2011.
