Despite going through a bit of a delay, the Robert Rodriguez-directed Alita: Battle Angel is coming this December. If you need proof of this, the full trailer dropped today— only a few days after 18 minutes of actual footage was screened.
Based on the original graphic novel series Gunnm by Yukito Kishiro, this big-screen adaptation comes with a script written by James Cameron, Laeta Kalogridis, and Rodriguez. It features Rosa Salazar as the titular Alita, who is found in what looks like a junk pile by Dr. Dyson Ido, played by Christoph Waltz.
Alita will try to uncover the secrets of her history as well as the future, and will do so alongside Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar), Jennifer Connelly (The Rocketeer), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), and Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage).
Take a look at the new trailer right here:
Yep, we're with her, too. This looks like a crazy, dystopian, cyberpunk battle-fest and we are here for it. Salazar's Alita, created using 3D/CG animation from Cameron, is looking cooler with every trailer we see. She looks like a formidable warrior— but once again, it's her quiet scenes (with Waltz in particular) that look like they will have the biggest impact.
