The first season of Syfy’s epic space opera The Expanse was a slow boil of political intrigue and world-building. Well, get ready to kick up the sandbox in Season 2.

The network (Corporate owner of Blastr -Ed.) has released the first trailer of Season 2 at San Diego Comic-Con, and it looks like they’ll be diving into the deep end, with all-out war and a dangerous conspiracy all hanging in the forefront. The end of the first season did a good job of bringing all the disparate storylines toegther, and those characters look to keep on stewing in the pressure cooker.

The series is, of course, based on the New York Times bestselling book series collectively known as The Expanse, written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S.A. Corey). The second season of the series looks to dig even deeper into the deeper machinations of what made the book series such a compelling read.

The Expanse returns for its second season in 2017 on Syfy.
