That movie adapted from the '80s cartoon we all thought was gonna be mediocre? Yeah, it's starting to look pretty good all of a sudden.
If you had some serious doubts about whether the team behind the new Jem and the Holograms movie were going to pull it off, no one would blame you. But as casting continues, it's become pretty clear that everyone involved is really trying to make this film worth rooting for.
We already knew we'd found our lead in Sharknado's Audrey Peeples, but now we've got two new women joining the ranks, and they're both kind of awesome.
Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald.
Wow. Those are two serious lady veterans (or, as we call them in the business, "veterans"). There's been no official announcement as to who each of them will be playing, but at a guess, I'd place Ringwald in the role of supercomputer Synergy, and Lewis as the leader of rival band, the Misfits. But that is sheer speculation.
No matter who they're each playing, this is exciting news. It's especially cool to see an '80s icon like Ringwald there to bring back Jem, who is an '80s icon in her own right.
Anyway. That's your Jem news for the day. Feel free to speculate away and cross your fingers that Ringwald will play some part in a ridiculous '80s makeover montage.
