From superhero epics, to zombie heists, to spine-tingling horror and sci-fi thrillers — streaming on May looks to have it all. Arguably the biggest stories this month are on Netflix, where the ambitious superhero series Jupiter's Legacy looks to bring the comic book saga to life.

The streamer also has the back half of Lucifer's eagerly-awaited fifth season while Zack Snyder's hyped new zombie flick Army of the Dead looks to hit the jackpot (sorry). If that wasn't enough, the service is also adding the third season of the excellent animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, plus the original sci-fi thriller Oxygen.

Hulu also has a few projects that should be on the radar for genre fans: Marvel's irreverent new animated series M.O.D.O.K., starring Patton Oswalt in the hilarious supervillain title role. Disney+ is set to kick off its new animated original Star Wars: The Bad Batch (the next big Marvel series, Loki, doesn't launch until June), plus the dual rollout of new film Cruella.

HBO Max is adding the midseason finale of the hit fantasy series The Nevers, plus adding Christopher Nolan's latest blockbuster Tenet to its catalog. Digging deeper, Amazon Prime is adding some Alien films and Shudder has a great line-up of new horror projects, plus a whole lot more.

Check out the full rundown below.

NETFLIX

HIGHLIGHTS

Jupiter's Legacy: One of the most ambitious superhero comics ever conceived, Mark Millar's creation comes to Netflix as an original series. It stars Josh Duhamel and Leslie Bibb and aims to tell a family tale of superheroes across generations.

Army of the Dead: Zack Snyder is back, and this time he's creating his own universe — no Snyder Cut required. The director has crafted an original zombie tale that is equal parts horror and heist movie, and it features stars Dave Bautista, Tig Notaro, Ella Purnell, Garret Dillahunt and more.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 3: When it comes to animated dino-adventures, Netflix is giving us all the action with none of those long between-season breaks. Just a few months removed from the release of Season 2, the third season of Camp Cretaceous is stalking out and preparing to attack in just a few weeks.

Lucifer: Season 5 Part 2: The DC-based dark fantasy procedural made the jump from Fox to become one of Netflix's most popular original series and now it's finally back with a fresh run of new episodes. The show is a ton of fun, and has done an amazing job of blending world-building with case of the week stories.

HULU

HIGHLIGHTS

Marvel's M.O.D.O.K.: What does a supervillain do when he's not off taking over the world? This animated comedy looks to answer the question, with Patton Oswalt voicing the stop-motion giant head dead-set on global domination. He'll face off with fan favorite Avengers and balance the mundane life stuff that comes with keeping his family together, all while almost certainly keeping us laughing the whole way through.

Shadow in the Cloud: This claustrophobic, taut little sci-fi thriller stars Chloë Grace Moretz as a pilot with a monstrous secret. The show follows Moretz's character as she boards a B-17 that comes under attack from mysterious creatures. The show plays its low-budget vibe perfectly, keeping the terror just off screen until it finally comes crashing in to scare the heck out of you.

DISNEY+

HIGHLIGHTS

Star Wars: The Bad Batch: This animated spinoff series looks to continue the adventures of the fan favorite squad first introduced in The Clone Wars. It looks to be a more action-packed spin on the formula, following the clone squad as they take up the most dangerous and exciting missions.

Cruella: Emma Stone is bringing the fan favorite 101 Dalmatians baddie to life in this live-action origin story, which looks to mix a bit of Harley Quinn attitude into the classic Disney story. The film will open theatrically but also be available on Disney+ as part of the Premiere Access tier at an additional cost.

HBO MAX

HIGHLIGHTS

The Nevers Part 1 Finale: The first part of the first season of the series, created by Joss Whedon (who since departed the project), comes to an end. The show offered up some wildly ambitious, Victorian-era fantasy world building while tackling some tried and true superhero story hallmarks.

Tenet: Christopher Nolan's latest blockbuster finally hits streaming, where you can watch it over and over and try to finally make sense of the time-twisting story. The action sci-fi flick is a wild adventure, right up there with the big ideas of Inception.
