The beloved Syfy series Alphas might be gone, but that doesn’t mean Dr. Rosen is done trying to save the world. Next up for actor David Strathairn? A battle with continent-crushing super monster Godzilla.
Strathairn is the latest addition to director Gareth Edwards’ (Monsters) new take on the classic monster movie, which is being written by Walking Dead co-creator Frank Darabont.
The acclaimed character actor will likely join Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Elizabeth Olsen (Silent House) and Bryan Cranston (Argo) in the big-budget tentpole flick.
All of the main cast are apparently still in talks, though, as Darabont is still hammering out his final draft of the script. This is a pretty solid team in front of and behind the camera, and this could turn out to be a surprise hit in a few years.
Edwards’ take on the franchise is rumored to be a more serious, dark imagining of a giant monster attack seen through the eyes of a young soldier (Taylor-Johnson, perhaps?) and those around him.
Do you like how the cast is shaping up?
