The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hasn't even opened in the U.S. yet, and already we've gotten our first look at the Blu-ray packaging.
I remember a time when movie studios used to wait a minute or two before revealing the details of a film's home video release. But sometimes, now, it seems as if a film's theatrical arrival is really just one gigantic commercial for its eventual super-deluxe Blu-ray box.
Case in point is The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The movie just opened internationally a week or two ago, and doesn't even come out in the States until this Friday (May 2), but Superhero Hype has posted photos of the Blu-ray set, which is incredibly up for pre-order at Amazon already.
The whole thing comes in a bust of Electro's (Jamie Foxx) head, with the discs fitting inside a slot in the supervillain's neck. The set will include the movie on both standard and 3D Blu-ray, along with a third disc presumably packed full of bonus content and all the easter eggs for future movies that they weren't able to jam into this one.
There's no word yet on a release date, but if you pre-order now you can probably start a financing plan for the hefty $100 price tag. I can tell you right now I'm not paying a dime if Electro's noggin doesn't light up, or at least glow in the dark.
Meanwhile, if you're still old-fashioned and want to watch Spidey battle Electro, Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) on the big screen, go see The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this weekend. If you like what you see, Electro will be waiting when you get back.
