Despite its ballooning budget, Amazing Spider-Man 2 was the lowest-grossing Spidey film of the series and left many fans underwhelmed. Well, it could’ve been worse.

Yes, Amazing Spider-Man 2 had its fair share of problems, but it almost took the hipster Spidey concept to its illogical extreme. We’d actually heard last year that, as part of the revamped costume, director Marc Webb was eyeing some spiffy new web-shooters that added an MP3 player to the mix of nifty features.

Yeah, it’s kind of silly, but as anyone who saw the movie can attest, these magical web-shooters are nowhere to be seen. Why? Because Andrew Garfield was apparently the voice of reason, according to concept designer Ismael Salcedo, and fought to have the MP3-shooters “canned” from the movie. We’re glad, because that sounds like perhaps a bridge too far for our friendly neighborhood wall-crawler.

Well, the concept art for the mythical web-shooters has made it online ... and they’re about as goofy as you’d expect. Check ‘em out below and let us know if you’d have preferred these high-tech shooters over the more traditional design.
