Every superhero franchise needs a place to keep all those supervillains, and it looks like we’ll be visiting Amazing Spider-Man’s own spin on Arkham Asylum with the upcoming sequel.

Director Marc Webb has tweeted a new pic from the shoot, revealing a sign from the Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane. Looking back to the comics, Ravencroft is basically Marvel’s version of DC’s Arkham Asylum, where all the worst-of-the-worst are locked up.

In comic lore, baddies ranging from Doctor Octopus to Carnage to Electro have all been patients at some point.

So who will we find there in Amazing Spider-Man 2? Judging by the different areas teased in the pic, it sounds like Jamie Foxx’s new baddie Electro would be a good fit for the voltage cells. Don’t you think?

No word on exactly how Webb will be using the facility in this film, but it’s a good bet Electro will either escape from or end up here, by the end of the movie.  Regardless, it’s great to see Webb digging deeper into the canon to flesh out more of the Spider-Man universe.

How do you think Ravencroft will be introduced?
