Now it looks as though they’ll get their chance — at least if they’re Amazon Prime members. Amazon revealed today that it’s partnering with Warner Bros. to offer early nationwide Aquaman screenings for Prime subscribers who order their tickets through the service.
Booking an early trip to James Wan’s super-saturated version of Atlantis is as easy as buying anything else on Amazon, with a single click whisking you away to ticketing service Atom Tickets, where the early screening date is automatically selectable for any of the more than 1,000 participating U.S. theaters.
Tickets to the early screening can be bought in blocks of up to 10 on a first-come, first-served basis. The announcement was accompanied by a short hype clip featuring Jason Momoa (Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman) and Amber Heard (Mera), with Momoa promising Arthur’s tale will be “the most badass movie of the year” — and for some reason, when Jason Momoa says it, it sounds super-convincing.
The early screening will hit select AMC, Regal, National Amusement, and ArcLight theaters on Dec. 15 — nearly a full week before the movie debuts in wide release. There’s only one early showing per theater, and no matter what time zone you’re in, it starts at 7 p.m. local time. Provided you’re already a subscriber, the link to get the advance screening tickets is right here.
Directed by Wan and starring Momoa and Heard as well as Patrick Wilson (Orm), Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta), Dolph Lundgren (Nereus), and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, the Queen of Atlantis, Aquaman crashes ashore in theaters everywhere on Dec. 21.
