Ahead of the alternate history series’ December premiere, Amazon has released the first official trailer for the second season of The Man in the High Castle.

The explosive new trailer was unveiled during NYCC over the weekend and raises more questions than it answers as it kicks off with a reel of Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday Mein Fuhrer” instead of the blonde bombshell's iconic “Happy Birthday Mr. President” song.

One thing that stands out for me is that it looks like we’ll be getting two alternate timelines running side by side this year, as evidenced by the fact that A) we see Alexa Davalos with two different haircuts (check the scene between her and Tate Donovan sitting on park benches) and B) the end of the trailer reveals split images of the main characters where we see two versions of them. I don't know about you, but I can't wait for Season 2 to begin!

The Emmy-winning series is based on the Philip K. Dick novel and features returning stars Alexa Davalos, Luke Kleintank, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Rupert Evans, DJ Qualls and Rufus Sewell. New cast members include Bella Heathcote and Tate Donovan. Season 2 will also finally reveal the identity of the Man in the High Castle sometime this season, a mystery fans have been waiting on tenterhooks to see resolved. Have a look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think.

The Man in the High Castle returns December 16 on Amazon. Will you be watching?
