After months of rumors that a certain Walking Dead character might bite the dust before the season ends, AMC may have just inadvertently confirmed the news. Spoilers ahead!

Speculation started when Jon Bernthal, who plays Shane, was cast in the new TNT pilot L.A. Noir, leading many to think that his character may not be long for this world. Series creator Robert Kirkman tried to downplay the buzz, but the rumors have persisted.

Now, it seems AMC has all but confirmed that Shane is walker bait in a new promo for the DVD release of season two.

Amidst teasers for bonus features like an extended zombie gut scene, and the making of the barn, the promo also notes this: "Shane's last episode."

Hmm, that seems to clear the air, doesn't it?

The news isn't much of a surprise to those who follow the Walking Dead comic series, as Shane was axed within the first few issues, but fans have been waiting with bated breath to see if the TV continuity would or wouldn't play along.

What do you think? Is Shane's (apparent) death a good move for the story, or do you believe things are just getting interesting?
