TV’s busiest man, Ryan Murphy, is bringing his spooky FX anthology American Horror Story to a deadly place with its eighth season, subtitled Apocalypse. We don’t know too much about it aside from that it will work like previous iterations of the show, bringing back key cast members (including Jessica Lange!) — only this time it’ll features a crossover of two past seasons: Coven and Murder House.
These combine into a concoction full of dark magic, evil spirits, and an utter disdain for humanity — perfect for some deliciously demented TV. So of course, Murphy and the AHS team put together a super-disturbing sizzle reel in which the only thing sizzling is flesh and the music is the tonal opposite of Fallout: 76’s jovial country bop. Yeah, that’s the AHS theme... but with lyrics now. Yikes.

So what does this fetus have in common with the fruit bearing some embattled scorpions? There’s some powerful imagery of an Antichrist in this teaser and the nuclear fallout doesn’t necessarily do a lot to brighten up those prospects.
The hourglass’ countdown continues until American Horror Story: Apocalypse premieres on Sept. 12.
