I don't know exactly what to think about Anne Hathaway's new monster movie, Colossal, and none of the teasers, trailers or posters have instilled much confidence in me that it won't come and go with barely a whimper.

That being said, I've read many reviews that praise its peculiar hybrid fantasy script and daring satirical romance about one woman's emotional problems and her uncanny connection to a giant monster all the way out in Seoul. While the term "unconventional" might be an understatement for director Nacho Vigalondo's (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial) latest sci-fi flick, it appears to have a few tonal screws loose. When it is eventually released on April 7, I may up eating my words if it suddenly becomes a surprise cult smash.

Here's the official synopsis:

Gloria is an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and being kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend, is forced to leave her life in New York and move back to her hometown. When news reports surface that a giant creature is destroying Seoul, South Korea, Gloria gradually comes to the realization that she is somehow connected to this far-off phenomenon. As events begin to spin out of control, Gloria must determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

Whether you believe Colossal to be a sizzling hot mess or the greatest thing since sparkling lemonade, have a peek at the latest trailer and poster and tell us if you might stomp into theaters to see the oddity unfold.
