Syfy is gearing up to start production on a new, post-apocalyptic series that will also dabble in the supernatural. Now we know who will be leading the cast through Aftermath.
The network (Corporate owner of Blastr -Ed.) has announced that real-life couple James Tupper (Revenge) and Anne Heche (Hung) will star as husband and wife in the new, 13-episode series. Created by William Laurin and Glenn Davis, the series follows Heche and Tupper’s characters as they battle for survival once civilization comes to an end — and supernatural creatures begin to rise.
Tupper portrays Joshua Copeland, a university professor whose study of world cultures gives him unique abilities and insights that may help him decode the events of the apocalypse. Heche plays his wife, Karen Copeland, a fierce protector who, in her quest to keep her family safe, draws on the combat skills and survival training she received as an Air Force pilot. The rest of the cast is rounded out with Julia Sarah Stone (Falling Skies), Taylor Hickson (Deadpool) and Levi Meaden (Olympus), who play their teenage children.
“Tupper and Heche are a perfect fit for Aftermath since they embody the tenacity and intelligence needed to lead viewers and our fictional family through the unpredictable, mysterious journey at the end of the world,” said Chris Regina, Senior Vice President, Program Strategy, Syfy & Chiller.
The series is a co-production between Space and Syfy. Production is set to ramp up in Vancouver next week. No word on when the show will premiere, though this fall/winter seems likely.
