The Clone Club is getting a little bigger, and now BBC America has revealed a first look at the Tatiana Maslany’s newest character in Orphan Black season two. They’ve also release the first Tatiana-heavy poster from season two, which you can find above.
In addition to the half-dozen characters she is already portraying, Maslany will add Jennifer Fitzsimmons, a 28-year-old teacher and swim coach when season two debuts later this year. The character will be introduced via a series of video diaries discovered by Cosima while researching her respiratory illness.
Check out a shot of Maslany as (a very sick) Jennifer below:
Here’s how co-creator John Fawcett described the character to Entertainment Weekly:
“Jennifer is a clone who was naïve, she didn’t know she was a clone, and was being monitored by her boyfriend. She gets sick, and with a kind of the version of the illness that Katja had. And of course, a version of the illness that Cosima has. Just that discovery alone is the kind of discovery that shakes Cosima. It really rattles her.”
It’ll be interesting to see Maslany flex her acting muscles even more with this character, and we can’t wait to see her get a chance to flesh out yet another clone. The video diary concept sounds like a neat way to spin the “Here's Another Clone” trope, and they’ve released a sample clip from the video diary below.
Warning: It’s positively haunting to see the transformation from healthy to deathly ill.
Season two debuts April 19 on BBC America.
