Ant-Man and the Wasp: Deleted scene hints at the residents of the Quantum Realm

Ant-Man and the Wasp took us back down to the wondrous and kaleidoscopic world that is the Quantum Realm, the place where Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) was stuck for 30 years.

During her time spent in Quantum exile, Janet gained special, matter-manipulating abilities, but how exactly did she pass the time? Human beings can lose their minds and/or grip on reality when placed in isolation for long enough.

Sure, time and space move quite differently in the Quantum Realm, but a deleted scene from the sequel hints that Ms. van Dyne spent those three decades going on adventures and making friendly contact with whatever lives down there.

Released by USA Today, the clip finds Janet about to depart the QT with her husband, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), who came to rescue her.

"There's so much we didn't know about this place," she tells him. Henry. Worlds upon worlds. Entire civilizations. Far more than we ever theorized."

Suddenly, they're stopped by some sort of imposing blob that issues a message that only Janet understand. Speaking into a communicator, she responds, "Passing through, we stake no claim."

A flat, robotic voice comes out of her communicator: "Go in peace."

In the comics, the Quantum Realm is known as the "Microverse" and plays host to a number of beings and planets like Homeworld, K'ai, and Kaliklak.

Odds are, we'll get to see some more of the Quantum Realm in Avengers 4, since Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) got stuck down there during the post-credits sequence of Ant-Man and the Wasp. Will he find refuge on Sub-Atomica, be captured by the Lizard Men of Tok, or face off with the formidable Baron Karza? We'll need to stay tuned!

However, it was the "Honest Trailer" for the movie of all things that brought our attention to a Quantum Realm Realm sequence that teases a fully-fledged city in the background. Check it out at 2:08...

USA Today's video also includes a short sequence of Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins) hot on the trail of Hank, Scott, and Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly).

You'll be able to digitally download the second Ant-Man adventure on Oct. 2. The DVD/Blu-Ray will go on sale Oct. 16.
