It's been a long road for Ant-Man. A long, questionable road full of bad press and even worse speculation drawn from said bad press. But, hey, Edgar Wright is out, Peyton Reed is in, filming has begun, and now it's time to see what happens when the rubber meets the road.
And what better way to do that than with ... a single photo? Sure, what the heck, why not? Marvel's gotta move beyond all the behind-the-scenes drama somehow, and giving fans something, no matter how seemingly insignificant, to talk about will probably do that.
So here he is, folks -- Paul Rudd as semi-reformed con-man Scott Lang.
Nice look there, 8-Mile.
OK, so this tells us very little. Could be that this moment is from the beginning of the movie, Scott Lang in his pre-dressing-like-an-insect days. Or this could be Lang trying to walk away from his (teeny-tiny) Ant-Man responsibilities halfway through the picture, as you do when you're in a superhero movie.
Or it could be something else entirely! In any event, it's got a surprising amount of grit on the proverbial lens for a Marvel movie. Maybe Ant-Man will still find itself pretty far afield of team Avengers despite Edgar Wright's departure.
What do you think?
