The apocalypse can paint a big canvas, but it's often the small stories about the end of the world that resonate the most. The Survivalist looks to be one of the creepiest in ages.

The indie sci-fi thriller, set in a near future where society has essentially ended, follows a man and a mysterious group of strangers who arrive asking for help. From there, things get tense, creepy and nerve-wracking. The film has garnered some rave reviews on the indie circuit, so here's hoping it manages to find an audience. Also, that buzzing fly in the trailer will haunt you long after the clip comes to an end. *shudder*

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

In a kill-or-be-killed world where starvation is rife and strangers are always dangerous, The Survivalist lives off the grid, and by his wits. When a starving woman and her teenage daughter discover his forest refuge, his loneliness drives him to overcome his suspicion and strike a bargain with them in return for bed and board. But as desire becomes stronger than necessity, the exchange becomes an uneasy, ongoing arrangement which threatens not only his carefully constructed world but also his life.
